The love of a devoted companion leaves footprints on our hearts that time can never erase.

“You were our first dog affectionately referred to as our ‘Dogter’.
Sharing this final tribute has been hard, as it means you’re really not coming back to us. I can only hope in my dreams we’ll meet.
We spent so much time training and working with you, you loved to work! You were so good at it. Obedience training with your littermates and cousins, learning to swim in an indoor doggy salt water pool, rally obedience, agility, a 4H competition, some dock diving, and your favourite – retrieving. You were so smart and so good at everything you wanted. We could ask you to pick up all your toys, and you put all your stuffies in your toy basket. The brightest girl we ever met.
Saying “Get in” and a little tap on the thigh and you were tight to our side and so proud looking up to make eye contact. We loved spoiling you.
We met many lifetime friends through just having YOU- our dog community friendships holds a big special place in our hearts. Portie party’s, trail walks with us and your dog walkers, swims in the Atlantic Ocean and winter golf course walks. You made SO MANY dog friends, and were adored by their humans.
Once we brought home Journey, you had your own best friend, never to be lonely and had companionship you deserved. You loved each other and your bond was beautiful. Watching you and Journey play and run together was so much fun to watch. We hope you know just how much you were loved.
Mom told you before anyone else that a baby was on the way. Then a few years later came another baby for you to love and “pawtect”. You stepped up proudly for your human siblings. Our adventures looked a little different after that.
You lost Journey very quickly and your decline started while you grieved your best friend. Watching your body fail you while your mind was still so sharp was hard to watch. We know you were greeted at the rainbow bridge by Journey and you both swam to it together again. We hope you are chasing Journey through the woods, tandem carrying sticks, and swimming together again. We hope you know just how much you were loved.
Our home feels emptier without you and Journey and you both cross our minds daily, and I swear I still see you out of the corner of my eye.
You came home to us on August 29, 2014 and we set your soul free from your pain exactly 11 years.
We will miss and love you forever.
— Jana, Dave, Casey and Addy”
